Today...

I almost lost my Mom. I love her, but she drives me crazy most of the time. You don't realize how much someone really means to you until you almost lose them. You also don't really understand how it feels until it almost happens to you. She had a heart attack this morning, actually, it started a couple days ago, but she didn't tell anyone. Finally today the pain was unbearable and she went to the Emergency Room. Before an hour was over, she had a stint put in place and was admitted upstairs. She will stay at Rochester General until Monday so they can watch her closely. When we left her tonight she was tired, but looked good. She has many lifestyle changes to make, but maybe this is the wakeup call she needed. It's scary, heart problems run in our family. I've had 3 uncles with triple bypass, and my Aunt just had this same angioplasty performed in September. The hard part is that my Mom is only 50 and seems so young to have this problem. I am grateful she's doing better, but I'm still worried about her. She has a great husband now to take care of her, so hopefully I'll be able to sleep tonight knowing she's taken care of. Makes you think...on the way home Mike and I stopped quickly to pick up some healthy snacks and have a renewed motivation to get healthier. It was nice to see all of my siblings rally around Mom today. I hope she feels loved, because she is.

Glad to hear she's on her way to a recovery, but it's obviously scary nonetheless.

We could ALL use some lifestyle changes. My lack of will power in the face of so much Christmas candy is thoroughly disappointing. I need to eat better, and quick!

Good luck to your mother. I'll be praying for her.

New Year Day

Today was a fun day. Mike and I sat the kids down and explained our new chore system and any over our expectations of them. It seemed to go...
