I CAN'T WAIT

Last night Mike and I were watching tv and there was a commercial on for the TWILIGHT movie! I'm so excited! I can't wait for it to be released. I've seen the trailers on the internet, but this was the first on tv. Woo Hoo! I can't wait!

I love funny signs...

I took McKee to the urologist today to check out his "man problems" as Mike puts it. While McKee and I were waiting for the elevator we looked down the hall and spotted this sign.I It would be hard for you to convince me that it was a coincidence!
Update:
On a more serious note...McKee has vericocele. Here is the simpleist explanation that I found. "Variceles do not generally clot and even if they do it's nothing dangerous. They also do not affect testosterone levels. But they may affect fertility. The exact reason isn't certain since usually it's only the left testicle that is affected. Varicoceles are caused by a failure of a small valve where the vein from the testicle (very low pressure) joins the left renal vein (moderate pressure). Without a valve there, some of the blood flow from the renal vein would tend to go into the testicle instead of where it's supposed to. This is what happens when the valve fails and that causes a backup and dilation of the veins in the testicle that we call a varicocele.

If there is no history of infertility and if the varicocele is not bothersome or actively enlarging, we don't usually treat it. Treatment is surgery. You may talk to your urologist about having a semen analysis to see if it's abnormal if that will affect your decision."

So being the concerned, paranoid mother that I am, I am convinced that McKee will not be able to have children and will have a hard time finding a wife that will want to marry him if he can't. Mike thinks I'm crazy, and I might agree a little bit...don't tell him that...and we shouldn't worry about it until he's an adult and we'll see what happens. I don't know that I will post any updates on the situation due to the nature of it, but I know that most who read this blog love McKee and maybe would pray for him.

My Big Boy?

Tyler found the little pacifier that he had when he was a baby. It's been a very long time since he used it, I think he was only months old...maybe 4 mos...the last time he had it in his mouth. Well he saw it on the desk, pointed to his mouth, said baby and picked it up, walked away and when he came back this is what I saw...
(notice Brooke's sparkley headband that has become his new necklace?)
A little bit later he came back into the kitchen and this is how he looked. So cute with the sunglasses and so much like a baby still. I cut his hair this morning and he was looking so old, so maybe he's showing me he's still my baby with the pacifier!
He's still walking around the house with it in his mouth, Brooke is playing with him calling him baby and when I tried to pull it out of his mouth, he had his teeth clenched around it. He's not giving it up! I'm sure it makes me an awful mother to not force it away from him, but I think it's kind of cute, and of course the novelty will wear off soon and it will disappear, never to be sucked again!

UPDATE: Just minutes after I finished my post here Tyler tried to tell me something and had to pull the pacifier out of his mouth to talk. Looked at it funny, put it back in his mouth, and then let me take it from him with no problem. I think he realized it's weird and didn't like not being able to talk to me. It was very funny to watch the realization come across him.

Mike has a new interest...

Guns. With the upcoming election Mike has decided to be one of the statistics of guns purchased in an election year. We are honestly nervous about what is going to happen this presidential election and have started beefing up our preparedness, just in case. So Mike is convinced that he will need a gun to defend us (or our food storage) and has decided to try some out. A friend of ours is a member of a gun club and took Mike shooting on Saturday night. He really enjoyed himself and looked good doing it! We'll see how things play out with this whole thing. Here is a picture of Mike to enjoy (but not too much ladies, I saw him first.)

Garage Sale 10/10 & 10/11

That's right, it's time to be enlightened by the digital words of MIKE. I apologize to all my followers who have been patiently waiting for another blog-o-doctrine on how to live a Mike-like life. Soon, I will give in and give you want you all want (need). Until then, let this post hold you over and slow down the salivating for more of my words.

Crystal is having a garage sale! Today from 10am until 6pm and tomorrow from 10am-5pm she will display proudly on our driveway (all the stuff we don't want anymore) stuff we've accumulated over the years. So, technically it's a driveway sale. See, even in a garage sale you can't technically buy the garage (although, if anyone wants to "buy" us repairs on our garage, we'll gladly let you so we can then finally open the door(s) and have a more traditional garage sale).

So, for all of you that have always dreamed of having a peak into the life of MIKE, this is your chance. You'll be able to come to my house, while I'm at work, and see all those things that Crystal will try to sneak out of the house and sell. Just let me make this one warning......if any of you see my parachute pants and zipper coat for sale, trust me, this was not authorized, and the purchaser will be in as much trouble as Crystal........."'Cause this is THRILLER.......THRILLER NIGHT!"

Go, shop, browse, buy, experience the love, the joy, the happiness (but stay away from my coat and pants!) And by all means, bring Crystal a donut or two (chocolate with white cream, not that pudding cream stuff)!!!

Just a Thursday Morning

I'm feeling particularly sentimental this morning. (It may be PMS, but don't tell anyone.) I've always loved this song. It was on a credit card commercial the first time I heard it and I would get teary every time. (To my credit, I was pregnant at the time too. But who am I kidding? I still cry at certain commercials) Anyways...I hope you enjoy it too.

(it won't let me post the whole video, but click on the link to hear it.)

Five for Fighting-100 years

I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind
I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy, Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star
15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...
I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you’re on your way
Every day's a new day...
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

Innocence

Brooke's friend from down the street is over today and the girls just sat down to have some lunch. Brooke stopped Johanna from eating because we have to say a prayer first. Brooke said Johanna do you want to say the prayer? Johanna said I don't know what to say. Brooke's response was "I'll whisper in your ear the words to say and you can say it." After Brooke started saying the prayer to Johanna, she replied "but your daddy is at work today."

They are so cute. What a great missionary Brooke is already sharing a simple truth like prayer with her little friend.

New Year Day

Today was a fun day. Mike and I sat the kids down and explained our new chore system and any over our expectations of them. It seemed to go...
